Is Memberply the right Growave alternative for your store?

Memberply is worth considering when your next program centers on paid or free memberships and ongoing member benefits. Growave may remain the better fit when you want loyalty, product reviews and wishlists together. Memberply does not replace that entire suite.

This comparison is published by Memberply, using official listings, documentation and our product capabilities. It is not a hands-on test of Growave or a claim that one app is best for every store. Compare the program you want to run, including any additional tools you would need.

Earned VIP status and a paid membership solve different problems

Growave’s documented VIP approach rewards customer activity: a shopper reaches a milestone and receives tier benefits. A paid membership instead asks the shopper to purchase an ongoing offer. Define which relationship you want before changing software. See Growave’s VIP model.

Illustrative example: a beauty store could reward shoppers after they spend $500, or offer a $20 monthly membership with a configured credit benefit and member discounts. Those offers have different economics and enrollment requirements. Moving an earned VIP tier into a paid membership should not silently turn existing loyalty members into paying subscribers.

Memberply supports both paid and free memberships. If your requirement is automatic activity-based VIP progression, document the exact rules and verify the destination workflow rather than assuming tier names imply equivalent behavior.

Growave and Memberply pricing

The table uses published monthly USD prices from the Shopify App Store. Annual offers and promotions can differ. Confirm the plan available to your store and the features you need before installing.

Growave and Memberply monthly pricing
PlanBase price and allowanceUsage or fit note
Growave FreeFree; 200 monthly orders.Lists points, wishlist and product reviews with Growave branding.
Growave Entry$15; 500 monthly orders.$20 per additional 100 orders; lists referrals and Shopify POS.
Growave Growth$199; 1,500 monthly orders.$15 per additional 100 orders; lists VIP tiers and store credit.
Growave Plus$499; 3,000 monthly orders.$10 per additional 100 orders; lists checkout extensions and API/SDK access.
Memberply Growth$49; unlimited members.14-day trial and no Memberply transaction fee. Reviews and wishlists need separate tools if required.

Growave’s pricing page also displays annual and promotional options. App fees are only one part of the decision: include replacement tools, reward funding, setup and applicable Shopify or payment-provider fees.

Compare total cost without assuming equivalent features

At exactly 700 monthly orders, Growave Entry’s published rate gives $15 + (2 × $20) = $55/month. At 2,000 monthly orders, Growave Growth gives $199 + (5 × $15) = $274/month. These are illustrative calculations using the listed allowances, not quotes.

Memberply Growth’s app fee is $49/month. That does not automatically make it cheaper overall: add the price of any review or wishlist tools, migration work and integrations you still need. A merchant using most of Growave’s suite has a different comparison from one mainly seeking a paid membership.

Write a simple budget: membership app + retained or replacement tools + reward costs + setup time. Compare that total with the current setup and the benefits customers will actually use.

Where Memberply fits: recurring benefits for members

Memberply lets you build a membership offer around benefits such as member discounts, cashback and recurring credit. Choose the reward trigger deliberately: a scheduled credit grant is not the same as credit linked to a successful membership payment.

Fee to store credit

Convert a successful membership payment into credit. Configure whether the first charge also receives credit.

Loyalty Drops

Give eligible members a fixed credit amount on the configured recurring schedule.

Cashback

Reward eligible purchases as store credit, with configurable earning rules and order caps.

For a same-currency example, a successful $20 renewal can produce $20 fee-to-credit. A separate $5 monthly Loyalty Drop follows its own schedule. These are sample configurations, not customer results; budget for the credit you issue.

Both products support credit rewards. Growave documents points-to-credit redemption and credit-earning actions. Memberply’s distinction here is the membership and benefit workflow, not exclusive access to Shopify store credit. Growave credit redemption and credit-earning actions.

With Shopify customer accounts, Memberply’s documented benefit flow delivers native credit when the customer logs in; store credit must be enabled. Legacy accounts receive discount codes instead. Review Memberply’s credit experience and fee-to-credit details before choosing.

When keeping Growave may make more sense

Keep Growave on your shortlist if the combined reviews, wishlists and loyalty experience is central to your store, or if its earned VIP model already fits your program. Switching solely for a lower app fee can create extra work and replacement-tool costs.

If you keep Growave for some functions and add Memberply, decide which app owns each reward, widget and customer message. Test for duplicate earning, overlapping discounts and conflicting enrollment prompts. Do not assume the two programs synchronize points or tier status automatically.

What moving from Growave to Memberply actually involves

Start with Growave’s Rewards export. It can include customer identifiers, current points balances, VIP tiers, expiration information and active reward codes. Reviews and wishlist data have their own export workflows.

Growave migration planning
Data or behaviorRequired migration decision
Customer membership recordsMap customers to explicitly chosen Memberply tiers. The member CSV supports up to 500 records per file, with per-row tier selection.
Points, credit and unused codesReconcile each separately. Member import does not import Growave point balances or reward history. Agree on a supported balance-handling process before switching.
Reviews and wishlistsKeep a suitable system for those features and test its supported import. A Memberply membership import does not recreate either dataset.
Billing and eligibilityImporting members does not transfer payment mandates. Paid enrollment requires the appropriate checkout and customer authorization; review any payment-setup invitations.

Read Memberply’s import scope before preparing the file. Imported tier labels are a mapping choice, not a recreation of Growave’s ongoing VIP rules.

Pilot a small group containing an active member, a customer with unused rewards and a customer with an expiry date. Verify access and balances before disabling the old program. Avoid making both an old coupon and a replacement balance spendable for the same reward.

Use the trial to answer five buying questions

  1. Offer fit. Can a shopper understand what joining costs and what benefits they receive?
  2. Customer experience. Test enrollment, account access, one benefit and a purchase using the actual account type.
  3. Reward timing. Check the first payment, renewal or scheduled grant required by your offer. Confirm timing that falls outside the trial separately.
  4. Existing customer value. Reconcile a sample customer’s points, unused codes and membership eligibility. Do not promise an automatic transfer.
  5. Full setup. Include reviews, wishlists, integrations, staff work and platform costs. Choose the system that meets the whole requirement.

Questions about choosing a Growave alternative

Is Memberply a complete replacement for Growave?

No. Memberply is a fit for membership programs and member benefits. Growave also includes reviews and wishlist tools. Keep or replace those separately if your store relies on them.

Does Growave offer store credit?

Yes. Growave documents store-credit earning and points-to-credit redemption, with store credit listed on its Growth plan. Memberply also supports credit, including membership-payment and recurring-benefit workflows.

Is Memberply cheaper than Growave?

It depends on the plan and complete setup. Memberply Growth is $49/month; Growave has free and paid plans with order-based allowances. Include any additional review or wishlist tools and migration costs before comparing totals.

Can I import Growave points with Memberply’s member CSV?

The member CSV imports membership records, not Growave points, unused reward codes, reviews or wishlists. Reconcile those datasets separately and confirm a supported migration process before disabling the old program.

Does importing a VIP customer start paid membership billing?

Importing a membership record does not transfer a payment mandate. If you want the customer to begin recurring payments, use the appropriate payment-setup or membership checkout process with customer authorization.

Should I switch if I only need reviews and wishlists?

Memberply is not the replacement for that requirement. Evaluate Growave or tools designed for those functions. Choose Memberply when its membership and benefit workflows match the program you want to run.
