Memberply came from running a real membership-style business

Before building Memberply, Doug and Sarah ran Crochet Surprise, a crochet subscription box with a paid community, member area and exclusive content.

The subscription box created community, exclusivity and predictable revenue. Members shared projects, engaged in a private group and valued access because it was part of something they paid to join.

We also saw the hard parts

Physical subscription boxes can be operationally heavy. New products, stock planning, packing, fulfilment and slim margins make recurring revenue harder than it looks.

So we built a different path
